Kara Gilliam

Miss Heather’s would like to welcome back Miss Kara Gilliam. Some of you may have seen her in a couple of our productions over the last few years such as “Mary Poppins”, “A Movie Marathon”, "Shrek" and "Miss Heather's School of Dance Has Talent".

Dancing since she was 4 years old, Kara has danced at several studios in North Carolina and Virginia and has competed in numerous regional and national dance competitions. She is experienced in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Pointe and Lyrical. Kara was also a cheerleader throughout junior high and high school. Kara attended Virginia Tech where she danced with the Dance Company of Virginia Tech. While there she also choreographed for college events, competitions and local pageants. She has also choreographed and performed at various DuPont-sponsored events in the community.

Kara was certified in the fall of 2010 in ballet and jazz through Dance Masters Of America and last summer traveled to New York City and attended several classes and workshops at the Broadway Dance Center.  Kara worked with Smyrna's Junior Competition Team last year. This year, in addition to the Junior Team, Kara will also be working with the Mini and Hip Hop Competition Teams in Smyrna.

In her free time, Kara likes to spend quality time with her husband and her two children, Laila and Mia, who both dance at the studio. She also enjoys football and lots of shopping!

We are so happy to have her be a part of our team again this season.
